BUTELINE System
The Buteline Plumbing System is designed for hot and cold water reticulation
using Polybutene-1 (PB-1) pipe, or for cold water only using Polyethylene
(PE) pipe. It is impor tant to note that while Buteline is one of the leading
brands that are known for their use of Polybutene-1 pipe, ‘Buteline’ is not the
same as ‘Polybutene-1’ - one is a brand, the other is a raw material.
Buteline always represents quality and we only select materials which are
specifically designed for their applications. Both Buteline PB-1 and PE systems
utilise a proven and efficient clamping technique, and are marked with our
copyrighted logo, engravings on our fittings and pipe mar kings at every
1 metre inter val (as pictured).
Due to the well thought-out design of fittings and tools, the Buteline
Plumbing System is difficult to install incorrectly (please refer to ‘The Jointing
Technique’).
The Buteline system is absolutely time proven, with a performance record of
over the past quar ter of a centur y. In New Zealand, Buteline pipes and fittings also have product accreditation from the
New Zealand Depar tment of Building and Housing, satisfying the ‘not less than 50 years’ durability clause.
Buteline also offer a 25 year guarantee when installation has been carried out by a licensed plumber in accordance with
local and national plumbing codes as well as the Buteline Plumbers Technical & Installation Manual. (For more information,

Polybutene-1 (PB-1)
Polybutene-1 was developed over 30 years ago specifically for use as a hot and cold water plumbing pipe mater ial. It is a
proven solution for the conveyance of clean healthy drinking water. With superior temperature and thermal capabilities
compared to other materials, there is no need for lagging – it endures and continues to perform both in low and high
temperature applications. The flexibility of Polybutene-1 pipe assists installers and eliminates water hammer noise.
Polybutene-1 is also environmentally friendly as it is 100% recyclable.
Buteline produces lengths and coils of Polybutene-1 pipe in a variety of sizes ranging from 10mm to 28mm.
